The TfC Ramble is a weekly buffet of content from the intersection of technology and comics.
NFTs
Disney recently applied for several NFT-related patents. I plan to discuss these in more detail in the future. You can read about a process that allows celebrities to “sign” NFTs in this Twitter thread.
UPCOMING DROPS
For season two, I am going to shift the focus to upcoming comic drops rather than past drops. If you are planning a comic-related drop, please reach out.

AI
TL;DR - AI + other tools provide consistent frame-frame animation.
Tools from Unreal Engine and others link AI to more traditional content creation. For example, it is now possible to directly overlay a character over a live actor. Also, the video discusses an NVIDIA paper that describes how the structure of a scene can be translated from scene to scene.
Writer Accountability
Done! The next script in The Lump Sum Saga - "Lump Dog" - is in the can, and a “Request for Quote” has been sent to Comics Experience Creative Services for production. (Their team did an excellent job with my last comic.) 44-page comic. 72 pages in Word with the supporting material. If this is my last comic, it won't be for a lack of trying. Ha! *phew*
Fire Update
Thanks to everyone who expressed concern about my sister-in-law’s apartment fire. I’ve been helping her navigate the “what happens next.” This week’s win was getting her car out of underground parking. There had been concern that it was flooded, but fortunately, this was not the case. Next up, finding her a new place to live while her unit is rebuilt over the next two years.
Just for Fun
Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦
As I sit here at my desk, I cannot help but be in awe of the beauty outside the window of my suburban Vancouver home. I am so grateful for the opportunities and safety Canada has offered my family.
In saying this, I acknowledge that the history of our country is complicated and full of tragedy & injustice. My wife and I want to acknowledge with gratitude and respect that our house is located on the shared, traditional and ancestral lands of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), sq̓əc̓iy̓aɁɬ təməxʷ (Katzie), and other Coast Salish Peoples. Thank you. Just thank you.
Happy Canada Day from Toronto!
