Digital Comics
Michael Nimmo at
sent out this important news to his subscribers this week. The Marvel Comics app (operated by Comixology) purchases Are Moving to Marvel Unlimited. So it looks like you won't lose any digital comics you bought.
The key dates are:
May 2: Marvel comics will no longer be able to be purchased on the Marvel Comics app (digital redemption codes may be redeemed in Marvel Unlimited via Marvel.com/redeem).
May 2: Digital comics purchases made prior to May 2 will be made available and accessible on the Marvel Unlimited app.
June 2: The Marvel Comics app will be shut down.
Another old digital app bites the dust!

AI
There is a lot to see here but jump to the 8:00 mark for the part that could directly affect comic art creation. Is this how AI finally handles more than one character in a panel?
This is an excellent introduction to the gist of how AIs learn.
Crowd Funding
Creator Milan Kovacs is offering an NFC chip in his book, Idols. The use of this tech in this way was new to me, so I had to reach out!
Greg: โDoes the NFC chip point to an online repository? I'm intrigued.โ
Milan: โThanks for your kind words! Yes, that is the plan. Also, I started experimenting with the NFC chips, and there is a chance to individualize them so, in a way, all comics will be uniquely digitally signed and numbered with locked chips.
We also plan on uploading further digital content in between Kickstarter campaigns for individual issues.
To be honest, the sky is the limit with these... :)โ
I will definitely be investigating NFC tech for a future blog post. In the meantime, drop by Milanโs Kickstarter page to find out more.
Writer Accountability
This week Iโve been diligently working on my Shopify store. Itโs a long story, but the impetus is less about selling my current comic inventory and more about providing utility to my future Comic NFT projects. I have a plan.
Oh my, the Starship launch was an epic distraction this week! It resulted in a couple of slightly earlier-than-typical mornings for this West Coaster. #sorry #notSorry Sometimes, observing history has to come first.
Iโve been noodling on a project where, frankly, I would be punching way above my weight in terms of where I am in my career. That said, if I can find the proper support, this might become a pitch on a licensed property.
Just for Fun
This is one of my favourite (see what I did there) CGP Grey videos of all time.
