The TfC Ramble is a weekly, skimmable smorgasbord of content from the intersection of comics and technology. Enjoy!

Thanks to
for flagging this article. There are some dated references here (E.g. Tesla Stock is actually up 74% since the article was published), but the core still rings true. This made me think about aspects of running a Kickstarter or NFT drop campaign.AI
While the headline at Gizmodo reads An AI-Illustrated Comic Has Lost a Key Copyright Case, I think the headline-behind-the-headline of this case is further into the article. Specifically, “The United States Copyright Office stated that Kashtanova “is the author of the Work’s text as well as the selection, coordination, and arrangement of the Work’s written and visual elements.” This is a glass-half-empty, glass-half-full case with significant implications.
The book in question (and many other examples) is available at AI Comic Books.
NFTs… um.. I Mean Digital Collectibles
Notable Drops

Giant-Size X-Men #1. Edition size: 7,500 (It sold out instantly!). $10US
VeVe seems to be successfully interspersing classic comics with other more modern (read less valuable) comics to maintain interest in the site. It is an interesting marketing strategy to note.
Ashfall #5. HBar edition size: 2,500. Sold out. Price. Free; transaction fees of about $1.50. Note that this only includes directly verifiable editions on Hedera. The number of comics distributed on the Coinzoom exchange is not currently available.
Crowdfunding Campaigns I’m Watching
MythFall Issue #1 - A Fantasy Epic in Space
I can’t remember ever seeing a #Space #Comic on Kickstarter with a female-led creative team before. Very cool.
Writer Accountability
This was a creative recharge week. The only writing I did was for this Substack. That was deliberate. I like to let a script sit before I go back and do a first major edit, so Lump Dog #1 (the next chapter of The Lump Sum Saga) is resting for a bit. Coincidentally, my wife was off work this week, so we’ve been trying to fit in some quality time. In addition, the alpha release of Derby Stars came out last weekend, so I’ve been training and getting to know the horses in my digital stable. #NerdLife Ha!
Ugh. Taxes. This week I am
mostly fretting about andplanning my approach to tackle the missing pieces of my accounting. Next week I need to input the last of my transactions that haven’t made it into QuickBooks yet. Knowing me, the resulting procrastination energy this task will generate will lead to some quality script editing. I am embracing this procrastination jujutsu. Ha! (Thank you, David Mack, for this term!)Speaking of David Mack, he was the guest presenter in the Jinxworld Masterclass Session #8 (available to subscribers of
' substack) this week. Without speaking out of turn, this session literally brought me to tears. I am very glad I attended.
Just for Fun
If you are on Instagram, be sure to read all three panels. I have a new life goal now. Ha!
