Oct. 12 The Addiction #1 (Digital) Published: 2023 License: ZQ Studio Cover Variants: 5 Total Editions: 6,850 List Price: 6.99 (Sold Out)
This was super exciting to see. Debuting at NYCC 2023, The Addiction is one of VeVe’s first forays into the physical comic world. If you drop by NYCC’s booth #3537, you can actually get a physical version of this comic. (I wish I was there!)
One of the themes this week seems to be digital + physical. This is something I’ve been saying to creators for a long time… it is not physical OR NFTs OR conventional digital … it’s physical AND NFTs AND conventional digital. NFTs are just another SKU to add to your product line that currently reaches a very different market.
VeVe also issued physical variants for The Superior Spider-Man Returns (2023) #1. Available for purchase at the VeVe stand within the Marvel booth #2153 , these are VeVe's first-ever physical Marvel comic variants. It is unclear if these will eventually be offered as NFTs, so in some ways these are like retailer incentive variants.

GlobalComix App Now Available on Android & iOS
Normally this would have been the news of the week. If you do not already have this app on your device, you are missing out! It is a game changer for independent comic creators.
Did you know that if you use the app to read my posts, you’ll get the revised versions. You know, the ones where I discover the typo the second after I’ve pushed send. Ha!

I am still working on my just-in-case series pitch for DC and have made good progress this week. I had hoped to have it ready for my brief Zoom call with Scott Snyder on Tuesday, but given he’ll be just back from NYCC, it’s probably best to wait until next month to ask him to have a look.
We worked out the last kinks for the Lump Dog contract, and I think we are good to go now. However, the other signatory to the revised contract is on vacation this week, so the project is still on hold.
What I am watching
You know those ridiculous popcorn movies that you are embarrassed to admit you enjoyed because they are objectively so bad? We watched Hidden Strike the other night, and, yeah, this is one of those movies. But hey, John Cena and Jackie Chan… how could I resist?!
What I am playing
Still Star Atlas Labs. Hauling resources from one station to the next can take up to an hour and a half, so it’s been a great “set it and forget it” browser game for me. This beta is still buggy but keeps getting better.
🚀 Can’t spell my last name from memory? Seriously, who can?! 😂
Fortunately, you can now reach this substack via two easier-to-remember domain redirects: techforcomics.com and tech4comics.com.
Just for Fun 😂
Me trying to get that scene just right… (sound on).
