There is only one more sleep until the “Lump Dog” campaign begins. I plan to launch it at 9 a.m., an hour after my friend and colleague Stephanie Nina Pitsirilos launches her “Event Horizon” campaign.
I have to admit I am feeling surprisingly calm. I am mostly just grateful to everyone who has helped me get ready for this campaign. There were a lot of balls in the air but that is all behind us now. Tomorrow we see if fans are ready for my quirky SciFi comic.
So I am trying something new this campaign. Specifically, I am trying to tap into the audience The Lump Sum Saga #1 built at GlobalComix. It’s not a huge following, but it is an audience that has expressed their desire to read more in the series. It is also a very international audience! There are three areas I am trying:
The Activity Feed
This feed is much like a very focused social media tool where I can post messages. I will remember to post important new information here.
Crowdfunding
GlobalComix explicitly allows you to tag Kickstarters for projects. Look under your Profile>Manage Series>[your series icon]>Advanced>Crowdfunding. I made sure to enter a custom tag from my Kickstarter Promotion page into the “Campaign Link” field to see if this generates any leads.
Posting My Preview Pages
On my Kickstarter page, I’ve included the first 7 pages of my comic. These are a great way to give a feel for the comic and to show that I am serious about getting this book into the hands of readers. However, you need to get people to that page for that to really help.
So, tomorrow after my launch, these same pages will become readable in the GlobalComix app along with a preview banner and integrated promotion page.
I am under the impression that followers on GlobalComix will be notified when this new content goes (automatically) online.
T minus 1: Lump Dog™ Launch Journal
During the Lump Dog crowdfunding campaign, I am recording a journal of my activities each day. The goal is to have a record of what I did so I have something to refer to when I do my next campaign. Hopefully, this will also give you ideas for your own campaigns.
Recent tasks
Created a preview comic for GlobalComix.
Jumped through the hoops needed to order my lenticular cover stickers from my supplier in China. These are going to rock!
Prepared “We are live!” posts for BackerKit and Tech4Comics.
I posted a character reveal for “Science” on Instagram.

What I am waiting for
Nothing, a little more bio information from one of my creators would help me honor them more precisely.
Lesson learned
Plan for pain. Legit. I had a gout flair-up on the little finger on my left hand. Had I not had “slush” time, this day of impaired typing might have been problematic.
