Quick Tip: Descript Text-to-Voice for Editing Dialogue

Great googly-moogly, this was fun!

So I just had to share.

I am working on the first draft of a newsreel-style exposition section of the next chapter of The Lump Sum Saga. Just for fun, this morning, I’ve been using Descript’s Voice feature to actually read the dialogue in distinct voices. It’s not perfect but, wow, is this ever a fun way to listen to the “music” of different phrasing. SOUND ON and listen to the draft in the video above. If you change the text or the speaker the audio updates automatically!

I think Descript is my new cool tool de jour. I’ll probably give a tour of this video editor (plus more) in a future post. If you are at all interested now, you can check it out here. I’ve encountered a few minor glitches, but overall it is saving me SO much time. Love it.

OK, back to writing.
