How to Prune a Substack Feed
The electronic *puts fingers in ears* "La, la, la... I can't hear you!"
Hey, everyone! Greg here.
It’s June 1st, and I’m back from my May hiatus. I’d like to take a moment to welcome you all to season two of Tech for Comics. Next week, I'll begin posting regularly, but before that starts, I wanted to give everyone time to adjust how much content you see from Tech for Comics.
You may not be aware, but you have the option to choose which sections of Substack sites you want to receive notifications about. This applies to both email notifications and, I am pretty sure, notifications in the app.
To manage your subscription preferences, go to your profile and select "Manage Subscription." From there, you can turn off notifications for specific sections. (For more specific written instructions, you can read here.)
For instance, if you're not interested in digital collectibles or artificial intelligence, you can simply turn off those sections. Keep in mind that you can still access all the articles published on the website itself, but you won't receive them in your mailbox.
I’ve added a few new categories and links on the main menu, so let me briefly go over the categories available on Tech for Comics, especially for those of you who are new here.
Tech for Comics is where everything that doesn’t fit into another category goes. This is where I’ll post useful spreadsheets and post like this one.
Under podcast, I am currently reading aloud the contents of Comic NFTs - an Ethical Approach, my book on digital collectibles. If the concept of NFTs confuses or angers you, I wrote the book for you. The podcast is a great way to “read” the book while on the road or at the gym.
The Ramble is a weekly skimmable summary of news from the intersection of technology and comics, where I collect and share interesting links I have found over the week. It also includes a creator accountability section where I describe what I’m working on.
Many of you came to the site because of the Scrivener section, which features tips for using this awesome writing tool as well as instructions on how to use my Scrivener template for comics.
The digital collectibles section overlaps with the podcast at the moment, but in the future, the podcast will feature more diverse content, including interviews with experts on blockchain, AI, and other related topics. When that happens, specific posts on Comic NFTs will be found here.
I've avoided discussing AI so far due to the strong emotions generated by its sudden emergence on the scene. However, I plan to delve into this topic in the future, sharing my opinions based on my years of experience in the tech industry. If discussions on AI are triggering for you, you may want to turn off this category.
Project Cannon Builder: In season two, I will be sharing my journey as I attempt to use digital collectibles to help fund production of my comics. I'll be sharing my efforts to choose the right blockchain and the overall process of creating and selling NFTs for your comic. Just as importantly, I’ll be discussing the why of this controversial add-on product sales strategy. If you’ve been craving a digital collectibles “how to,” this is where you will find it.
Thank you all for sticking around. We even gained a few subscribers during my hiatus, so to you, a special welcome.
We'll be officially getting underway with regular content next week. In the meantime, this saturday’s Ramble will be a special edition where I talk about what I was up to during my May posting hiatus.
Until then!
