You have spent a lot of time and effort curating your Twitter feed. Before you leave for greener pastures, download your pithy repartee in a format you can take with you. Even if you have decided to stay and weather the storm, it is simply good policy to occasionally save your work. Fortunately, on Twitter, it is currently a relatively straightforward process.
1. Click “More”.
2. Open "Settings and Support" by clicking on the down arrow.
3. Select "Settings and privacy"
4. On this page select "Download an archive of your data"
5. Depending on how recently you signed in, you may be asked to verify your password. Enter you password then select next.
6. Request a verification code.
You may get a request to verify your identity with a code. In this case, the user has asked for the code via text. If that doesn't work (especially for unverified accounts), you can ask for your code via e-mail. This may take a few minutes to arrive.
7. Enter the code you receive...
8. ... then click on "Next."
9. Click the "Request archive" button.
It may take a day or more for your archive to be created. Come back to this page to download the resulting file.
And that is it! Watch the video above to see how to look at the resulting file.
Thanks! Once I start getting codes, I'll be sure to make them available here.
I have definitely done this in the past, even before people started the exodus. I’ll do it again pretty soon. :)
