How Not to Spam-bot
As I’ve alluded to previously, I am writing this series of posts about my Lump Dog™ Kickstarter so I will have a resource to refer to the next time I do a campaign. That said, a post a day can be a lot of e-mail, so for the remainder of the month (after this post), I will only “push” posts to e-mail that include significant tools and lessons that will be valuable to others planning to Kickstart their comic. If you want to follow along with all of my posts, you can still read them on the website or app. My goal is to post my “journal” toward the end of the day every weekday.
Tasks
Created a new Instagram reel video to announce the launch. I recycled the Kickstarter video and used Canva to provide the resized frame.
Using the Kickstarter tag links as my guide, I announced the launch in multiple locations, BackerKit Launch to past backers and Tech4comics e-mail list included.
GlobalComix sneak preview launched.
I revised the Kickstarter projections spreadsheet and reposted that post with the updated Excel file. When I went to use it, I found a couple of glitches and some missing information I wanted.
Helpful resources
I love the Campaign Checklist offered with the ComicsLaunch Pro course. Having it as a reference to pull from has been golden.
What I am waiting for
The graphics for the Degen Ghosty lenticular cover are with the manufacturer. They’ve promised a “proof” gif and, after manufacture, a video of the cover. I will post that mid-campaign.
Celebrations
I received a great, unexpected e-mail today. It looks like I’ll have another cover to offer mid-campaign. Details to be revealed. 🤫
Oops. Lessons learned
On the above-mentioned checklist, one of the items is to double-check your shipping settings. I thought I had, but I missed one. Fortunately one of my close friends was the first to find the problem so I could change the large, unwarranted shipping charge on one of the tiers before it was locked.
On the plus side, I did my first Kickstarter live video today. I broadcast pushing the launch button. Sadly, my video was only 53 seconds long and videos need to be at least one minute long to save it to your story.
Snapshot (What I’m currently monitoring)
Current status: 31 backers for $941 CAD. 47% of my funding goal. 29 days to go.
New Instagram ad spend: “All Systems are Go!” 896 accounts, 16 visits, $9.04 $.56 per visit. (I may try this on a different audience as that is a poor conversion rate.)
BackerKit 🚀🐾 LUMP DOG™ is LIVE! 🐾🚀 e-mail. 216 were sent, 60 opened, 7 clicked, and 3 pledged.
